Dig up some fun and learn about Arkansas quartz while you're at it!
We're kicking off our Summer Reading Program: Dig Deeper, with a quartz crystal dig! Arkansas quartz is known worldwide by collectors, scientists, and tourists alike, and it is the official State Mineral. Join us for a fun crystal digging event at the Ron Coleman Mine in Jessieville, Arkansas. This event is geared for crystal enthusiasts ages 8 and up. All children between the ages of 8-18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants need to wear closed-toe footwear and clothing that is comfortable and suitable for getting dirty. All adult participants must fill out a waiver form and are responsible for supervising any minor children in their company. Registration required. Participants encouraged to bring gloves, spades, and other handheld digging implements. ***Library Card and PIN: When registration asks for your library card number, you can put that in to save time and pull data from your library card account to auto-fill the demographic questions. If you don't have a library card or do not want to auto-fill your information, just skip the library card and PIN questions.***
